Kristofer Loren Copeland
Kristofer Loren Copeland, 22, of Wellman, formerly of Mt. Pleasant died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at the University Hospital in Iowa City after a lengthy illness.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 21, at the Kalona Christian Fellowship in Kalona with the Rev. Larry Rediger officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman with family present from 2 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. A memorial funds has been established for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Mr. Copeland was born Sept. 28, 1977, in Burlington, the son of Keith and Kathy Martin Copeland. He attended school in Mediapolis and Mt. Pleasant, and graduated from Mid Prairie High School in 1996. He also attended Kirkwood Community College. He lived in Wellman since 1995. He loved fishing and especially basketball and had appeared on Scholastic Sports America on ESPN Television. He worked at APAC in Iowa City and Mt. Pleasant and attended Kalona Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Keith and Connie Copeland of Wellman; his mother, Kathy Rizzo of Tampa, Fla.; his grandparents, Leo and Connie Martin of Burlington and Frank and Edith Suchomel of Vinton; a brother, Curtis Copeland of Wellman; two stepbrothers, Zachary and Seth Cornwell, both of Wellman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Josh, in 1992; and grandparents Kenneth and Edith Copeland.
