Kurt Matthew Harness, 52, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, at his home.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at the VFW starting at 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. March 18, 2023.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.

Kurt was born August 9, 1970, in Fairfield, to Robert Mack Harness and Mary Ann (Dowd) Cook.

Kurt worked in the kitchen at MIU and the Fairfield Country Club. He loved to cook and was always trying new recipes. Kurt was a people person. He never knew a stranger. Kurt also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Kurt will be missed by his mom, Mary Ann Cook of Fairfield; two sisters, Lori Fowler of Oskaloosa and Angie Mocol of Packwood; three nieces, Debra Fowler, Olivia Fowler and Rhyienne Fowler; two nephews, Josh Mocol and Alex Mocol; and aunt, Marjean Shott.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Harness; and stepfather, Jack Cook.
