KALONA ? L. David Yoder, 90, of Kalona, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, in Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Celebration of life memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Pleasantview Home Chapel in Kalona. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday at East Union Cemetery in rural Kalona. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and Pleasantview Home.
Mr. Yoder was born Oct. 30, 1924, the son of Frank D. and Elva (Kauffman) Yoder. He married Leona Fern Brenneman on Sept. 6, 1951.
He attended East Lincoln School and graduated from Chicago Technical College in 1963. He was an architect his whole life. He was a member of the East Union Mennonite Church, Kalona Building Committee, and Washington County Foster Care Review Board for 15 years. He taught Sunday school for 37 years, and he enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Suzanne Yoder of Johns Creek, Georgia; one granddaughter; one brother, Daniel E. Yoder of Kalona; one sister-in-law, Susie Hochstetler of Kalona; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leona, in 2013; one son, Leon, in 2014; one sister, Mary; and two brothers, Delmar, and one in infancy.
