L.G. 'Gus' Henthorn

L.G. "Gus" Henthorn, 80, of Burlington, died at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at the Marshalltown Veteran's Home.

      The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of Tuesday's service at the chapel, with family receiving friends. Masonic rites will be prior to the funeral and military rites will be conducted by VFW Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52, AmVets Post 29 and Marine Corps League. A memorial has been established.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Michelle Allen-Harian of Burlington; two stepsons, Carl R. Allen of Burlington, and Larry D. Allen of New London; and 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
