LaFern Salome Yoder

WELLMAN - LaFern Salome Yoder, 91, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, following a long illness, at Parkview Manor in Wellman.

      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the West Union Mennonite Church in rural Parnell, with the Rev. David Boshart and the Rev. Martha Yoder officiating. Burial will be prior to the service, at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the West Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman, where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the West Union Mennonite Church and the Iowa City Hospice.

      Mrs. Yoder was born Sept. 19, 1916, in rural Wellman, the daughter of Emery and Alice (Bender) Brenneman. She married Ray M. Yoder on Dec. 11, 1938, at the West Union Mennonite Church.
