Larry D. Perkins

COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? Larry Deane Perkins, 78, of Columbus Junction, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, with family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Junction Ambulance Service.

Mr. Perkins was born Jan. 18, 1937, in Moravia, the son of Wilbur S. and Edna Mae (Sams) Perkins. He married Kay Stevens on Aug. 2, 1964.

He graduated from Indianola High School. He served in the 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean. After his discharge, he attended William Penn University and the University of Iowa. After a teaching career, he was employed as a machinist at Bandag until retirement.

Surviving are his wife, Kay, of Columbus Junction; one son, Mark Perkins and wife Seana; one granddaughter; three sisters, Miriam Cleveland, Martha Kragness, and Carol Arrasmith and husband John; and one sister-in-law, Lou Ann Perkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Myron.
