Larry D. See, age 84, of Sterling, died Monday, December 1, 2025 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Larry was born September 16, 1941 in Washington, IA, the son of Clarence W. and Dorothy (Lowe) See. Lary married Carol Anne Foley on December 29, 1962 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling.
Larry served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana where he attended the Adjutant Generals School in Computer Data Processing. He then began his career at Northwestern Steel and Wire where he was integral in setting up the very first computer system. He went on to become the Director of Data Processing and saw many changes over his 30-plus years in the tech industry, and retired in May 2001.
He enjoyed many retirement years with family and friends on the Rock River and in New Smyrna Beach, which became his second home, with Carol, his kids and grandkids.

y enjoyed any and all sports. He favored High School and College football, most times watching 2-3 games at once.
Larrby is survived by his wife, Carol Anne (Foley) See of Sterling; four children, Margaret (Phil) Adams of Peoria, IL, Jennifer (Mark) Williams of Rock Falls, IL, John See of Sterling, and Laura See of Sterling; two sisters, Linda Peiffer and Marsha (Tom) Horak both of Washington, IA; eight grandchildren, Tyler (Melissa) Morel, Matthew (Anna) Adams, Megan (Stuart) Maxheimer, Cole Kunde, Jacey Kunde, Robert Williams, Sarah Williams, and Kale Kunde; two great granddaughters, Quinn and Chelsie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Joseph and Mary Jane Foley and one brother-in-law, Mike Foley.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at the church with The Very Reverend James R. Keenan officiating. Inurnment with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling followed by a celebration of Larry’s most honorable life at Johnny’s on Freeport Road.
A memorial has been established.
