Larry J. Douglas
Larry Joe Douglas, 58, of Franklin, died Friday, April 4, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory in Donnellson, with family present. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Barb Krueger officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
He was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Ft. Madison, the son of Donald and Irene Hellige Douglas.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Tank Sergeant, then drove a truck until he retired due to health reasons. He was a member of the American Legion, Gun Smithing, and volunteered at Wish for Life in Memphis, Tenn.
He is survived by his father; two daughters, Patricia Waibel and her husband Timothy of Port Deposit, Md., Annette Landa and her husband Cary of Red Lion, Pa., two brothers, Gary Douglas and his wife Reva of Garland, Texas and Richard Douglas and his wife Donna of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.
His mother and brother Danny Wayne Douglas preceded him in death.
