Larry Joseph Fritz was born to the late Leonard and Genevieve Kurtz Fritz on May 26, 1951, in Washington, IA. Larry's early years on the family farm south of Brighton were filled with the simple joys and values that would shape his character throughout his life.
After graduating from Washington High School with the Class of 1970, he began his lifelong journey with high school sweetheart, Patricia Mary Reighard. They wed at Saint James Catholic Church in Washington, IA, on June 12, 1971. The couple built a beautiful life together, standing by each other's side for over five decades. Together they became the proud parents of twin children, Jacob (Angelina) Fritz of Oskaloosa, IA, and Jamie Fritz of Washington, IA, and the blessings of five adoring grandchildren, Rylee, Bailee, Nevaeh, Huxxley, and Hayden.
Larry's dedication to providing for his family was evident through his steadfast work ethic. He spent 25 years as a machine operator at McCleery-Cummings Co. and later at LJ Roth Reconstruction in Olds, IA, and as a custodian for Saint James Catholic School.
Outside of work, Larry was an avid participant in several community organizations. He was a devout member of Saint James Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus, and spent time with his fellow car enthusiasts in the Corn Country Cruisers Car Club. His legacy as a devoted family man, loyal friend, and respected community member will continue to live in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his sisters, Jean Bates and Sharon Redlinger. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat Fritz of Washington, IA; his children and grandchildren; his brother, Gary (Arlene) Fritz of Brighton, IA; sisters-in-law Priscilla (Dale) Reighard and Barb Letcher, both of Washington, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
