Larry L. Schlarbaum, 75, of rural Salem, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, at his home.

Larry was born on January 3, 1946, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Jay and Katherine (Rogers) Schlarbaum. He was united in marriage to Julie Cook on January 16, 1983. Larry served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Rockwell International in Fairfield for 14 years. He enjoyed working on cars, loved his animals. Larry lived life to the fullest. He found great joy in helping other people and was a joker. He enjoyed traveling and his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His family was the most important part of his life.

Larry is survived by his wife, Julie of rural Salem; his children, Jerry Schlarbaum of Florida, Billy (Heather) Schlarbaum of New London, Candi Wixom of Fairfield, Linda (Scott) Reid of Fairfield, Larry (Cindy) Schlarbaum of Ottumwa, Traci Spurgeon of Birmingham and Scott Spurgeon of Fairfield; his grandchildren, Brandon, Hunter, Angelica, Josh, Caleb, Sydney, Braydon, Courtney and Brody; his great-grandchildren, Amethyst, Grace, Ruby, Makayla and Madison; and his sister, Helen Schlarbaum of Bloomfield.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tommy Lee Schlarbaum; one daughter, Jonnie Marie Schlarbaum; one grandson, David Michael; one granddaughter, Megan; and his brother, Dewayne Schlarbaum.

Larry's family will host a Celebration of his Life at a later date. According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
