Larry Miller, 72, died on October 25, 2022, at his home.
Larry was born on January 11, 1950, in Washington, Iowa, to Alvin and Laura (Sarah) Miller. He graduated from Washington High School and pursued a career in Information Technology.
On August 17, 1974, he married Joanie Sieren in Keota, Iowa. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids, Forest City and Dubuque, Iowa. They retired in 2017 and moved to Arizona for the winter and came back to Minnesota (Clear Lake, MN) for the summers.
Larry lived life to the fullest. He loved being with his family, golfing and all kinds of sporting events. Throughout his life, he was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, even though his daughter chose to attend their in-state rivalry, the Iowa State Cyclones. Throughout the years, he cheered both teams on and enjoyed betting on their rivalry games. One of Larry’s greatest joys was watching his grandsons play their sports, he spent countless days and nights going to every baseball and soccer game that he could. He loved it so much, and he was the best cheerleader in the stands and on the sidelines. Larry also loved to take them golfing, grill out for weekend dinners and play cards. He was a very engaged dad, husband and Papa and will be missed by his family very much.
Larry is survived by his wife, Joanie; daughter, Kimberly (Jon) Kopplin; two grandsons, Jacob and Alex Kopplin of Lakeville, MN; one brother, Gary (Suzetta) Miller of Hawkeye, IA; two sisters, Linda and Sue Miller of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Sarah Miller of Mt. Pleasant, IA.
A prayer service for Larry will be held on Tuesday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, IA. In lieu of flowers, the family will ask for donations to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s hospital – UIHC.org/donations.
