Laura Jean Hochstedler, 65, of Kalona
KALONA ? Laura Jean Hochstedler, 65, of Kalona, died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona, where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Crooked Creek Christian Camp, Mission Aviation Fellowship and Bethany.
Miss Hochstedler was born Sept. 20, 1945, near Kalona, the daughter of Ezra and Susan (Mast) Hochstedler.
She attended Evergreen rural school. She lived in the Kalona community most of her life. She did voluntary service in Minnesota for a couple of years. She worked as a cashier at JW?s Foods. She was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with family.
Surviving are five brothers, Robert L. Hochstedler of St. Paul, Minn., Donald G. Hochstedler and wife Ellen of Kalona, Wayne A. Hochstedler and wife Nancy of Barstow, Calif., James M. Hochstedler and wife Pam of Kalona, and Loren K. Hochstedler and wife Elvesta of Kalona; four sisters, Oleta Bollman and husband Ken of Fort Wayne, Ind., Carol E. Glick of Danvers, Ill., E. Marlene Schrock and husband Dale of Iowa City, and Twila S. Swartzentruber and husband Don of Kalona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother-in-law, Harley Glick; and one nephew.
