Laurita Faye Griggs-Ross, 90, of Washington, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019, at the Halcyon House in Washington. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019, at the Columbus City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Laurita. The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction is caring for Laurita's family and her arrangements.

Laurita Faye Griggs was born on November 29, 1928, in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Armour and Faye (VanDyke) Griggs. Laurita attended the University of Northern Iowa receiving her Teaching Degree and also continued her education at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. She taught at Louisa Center, Old Clifton and Frog Pond Country Schools, Wyman, Cotter, and Letts Schools. Laurita was also a Home Health Care Provider for 25 years. She had a very special love of animals, especially her cat, Dusty.

Laurita will be deeply missed by her brother, Lonny (Laura) Griggs of Indiantown, Florida; three nieces, Lori Adams of Washington, Lisa Bean of Columbus Junction and Lynn Geisen of Washington and great nieces and nephews, Lena Adams, Pasouri Adams, Tarah Bean, Ransom Adams, Sultan Adams, Mitchell (Rachel) Bean, Brett Geisen, Drew Geisen and Adam Geise.

Laurita was preceded in death by her parents.
