LaVerne Zieglowsky, age 82, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Parkview Home in Wayland, Iowa.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Calling hours will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for LaVerne’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
August LaVerne Zieglowsky was born July 20, 1943, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Cloyce Clinton and Myrtle Maxine (Churchill) Zieglowsky. He attended school in Washington, graduating from Washington High School in 1961. LaVerne was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Wilson on June 20, 1964, at the First Baptist Church in Washington.
LaVerne worked for the Washington County Home and Systems Unlimited for many years. He was a school bus driver for the Washington Community School District from 1997 until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was active with sporting events in the Washington School District. LaVerne was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Zieglowsky of Washington; daughter, Stephanie (John) Bare of Newton, Iowa; son, Tadd Zieglowsky of Washington, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Brittany, Nathaleen and Katelyn Zieglowsky; Shelby and Alex Bare; Ethan, Caleb and Mitchell Zieglowsky; and Austin Lee; as well as twelve great-grandchildren.
LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents; son, Russell Zieglowsky; brother, Eugene (Elizabeth) Zieglowsky; sister, Joyce Zieglowsky; and an infant sister, Audrey Maxine Zieglowsky.
