Lavina Leichty
Lavina Leichty, 90, of Wayland, died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at the Parkview Home in Wayland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland with the Revs. Roger Farmer and Grant Nebel officiating. Visitation began at noon on Friday, Sept. 7 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Memorials may made to the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. Arrangements are by Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland.
Mrs. Leichty was born on Jan. 13, 1911, in rural Wayland, the daughter of Ben R. and Mary Graber Roth. On July 30, 1931, she married Simon Leichty at Noble. She was a lifetime member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and enjoyed attending Women in Mission Service Auxiliary, later renamed Women in Mission and Service Commission, as long as her health allowed. She and her husband lived on a farm in the Finley community until 1975 when they moved to Wayland. She had been a resident of Parkview Home since February 1991.
