Lawrence Whetstine

WELLMAN - Lawrence Whetstine, 95, of Wellman, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, in his home near Wellman.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, in the Asbury United Methodist Church in Wellman with the Rev. Rich Pippert officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wellman with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church.

      Mr. Whetstine was born Oct. 8, 1912, near Wellman, the son of Melvin and Anna (Steiner) Whetstine. He married Margaret Aileen Riddle on Feb. 29, 1936 in Oskaloosa. She preceded him in death. He later married H. Louise Hayes in her home in Washington on Dec. 14, 1968.
