RENO, Nevada ? Leland ?Lee? Arthur Love, 90, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, of multiple health issues.
Private services have been held. Memorials may be donated to either the Ronald McDonald House at 323 Maine Street, Reno, NV 89502; The Veterans Guesthouse at 880 Taylor Street, Reno, NV 89502; or a charity of the donor?s choice.
Mr. Love was born Nov. 11, 1925, near Crawfordsville, the son of James Granville Love and Sadie (Davis) Love.
He was raised in the Crawfordsville area, graduated from high school, and attended Washington Junior College in Washington. Later he attended Lassen Junior College in Susanville, California. He served in both the Merchant Marines and the Army, and later graduated from Chico State University in Chico, California, majoring in education. He taught school in Willows, California. He also taught at, and retired from, Veterans Memorial School in Reno, Nevada, where he encouraged students in sports and sportsmanship as well as academics.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 55 years, Pat; his daughter, Barbara Whiteley, and his son-in-law, Cliff Whiteley, of Reno, Nevada; one granddaughter; one sister, Wilma Vosburg; one sister-in-law, Joann Love; and nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Karen Sue; and one brother, Willard Love.
