Leland O. 'Dutch Creek' Sheetz

      Leland O. "Dutch Creek" Sheetz, 85, of Washington, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, following a brief illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be directed to veterans' organizations.

      Mr. Sheetz was born on Jan. 13, 1919, in Keota, to Otto and Berniece (Long) Sheetz. He married Rosalie Combs in 1945. She preceded him in death in 1977. He married Mary (Carey) Norton on April 25, 1986, in Burlington.
