Lena Rose Houseal, age 91, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Celebration of life services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa with Pastor Kwang Song officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. A private interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A general memorial has been established. Lena was born May 20, 1927 at home in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of James Oral and Elsie (Kiesey) Davidson. She graduated from Washington High School in 1945 and attended Paris Academy of Cosmetology in Cedar Rapids. Lena was united in marriage to Samuel Houseal in June of 1956 in Washington, Iowa.

Lena worked as a hairdresser for nearly 50 years and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington for many years. Lena loved roller skating, dancing and bowling but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters: Nancy Rose Knotts and husband Michael of Burlington; and Beth Anne Ripple and husband John of Burlington, IA; three grandchildren: Shenda (Ken) Vikturek, Shon (Amber) Knotts; Bradley Stevens (Jessi); Michael Ripple; and Mary (Chad) Watkinson; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Shane Houseal; sisters, Donna Markin and Dorothy Patterson; and brother, James Davidson.
