KALONA ? Lena Miller, 84, of Kalona, died Monday, April 18, 2016, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 22, at the Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. The minister in charge is Leslie Miller. Burial will be in the East Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and the Wellman Rotary Medical Lending Closet. The Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Miller was born July 26, 1931, in Thomas, Oklahoma, the daughter of William G. and Lizzie (Miller) Hochstedler. She married Jonas D. Miller on May 6, 1954, near Kalona.
She moved to Kalona with her family in 1947. She accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized in her youth, and was a member of the Kalona Community Amish Church. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed tending to her flowers and watching sunsets.
Surviving are two sons, Marion Miller and wife Katie Mae of Walhonding, Ohio, and Linus Miller and wife Martha Fern of Kinzers, Pennsylvania; four daughters, Irene Buser and husband Rich of Conesville, Ila Miller and husband Henry J C of Kalona, Carolyn Weiss and husband Herb of Kalona, and Marcille Linscheid and husband Jeff of North English; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester Hochstedler and wife Rachel of Perkins, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Katie Ropp of Seymour, Missouri, and Martha Smith of Newton, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jonas, in 2002; and one daughter-in-law, Nancy Miller.
