Lena P. Ropp

KALONA ? Lena Pearl Ropp, 88, formerly of Kalona, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, at Beatty and Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour, Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ropp was born Aug. 24, 1928, the daughter of Ollie and Ora Hochstetler. She married Omer Wesley Ropp of Kalona on Sept. 11, 1949, at the East Union Mennonite Church.

She and her husband lived all their married life in the Kalona community except for the past 12 years in Sarasota, Florida. They spent many winters in Sarasota until his death in 2007.

Surviving are three children, Robert Ropp and wife Mary of Rome, Georgia, Lonnie Ropp and wife Janice of Schaumburg, Illinois, and Connie Waldron of Sarasota, Florida; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Harlan and wife Joretta of Kalona, Rosetta Doolin and husband Morris of Salem, Oregon, Milford and wife Jane of Shipshewana, Indiana, Merlin and wife Viva of Salem, Oregon, and Merna Knepp and husband John of Salem, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer; both parents; and three brothers, Clyde, Leo, and Paul Hochstetler.
