Leon Vogel, 95, of Keota, died Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Leon was born March 2, 1924, in rural Harper, to Z. Victor and Clara (Horras) Vogel. On September 8, 1948, he married Rita Weber at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in rural Harper. The couple lived and farmed in the Keota area until retiring in 1984.

Survivors include six children: Gary (Emmilee) of Iowa City, Dan of Keota, Elaine (Dean) Finley of Winthrop, Maine, Susan (Alan) Byerly of Washington, Patrick (Robyn) of Keota and Mary of Keota; grandson; two great grandsons; two brothers: Dale of Northridge, California and Jerry of Tallahassee, Florida; sister: Carol of Cary, North Carolina and special friend: Laura Vogel of Kalona. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Rita; two sisters: Dolores and Donna and two brothers: Eugene and Wayne.

Funeral mass 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Burial at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Mary Cemetery in Keota. Visitation 4-7 Thursday, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with a wake service at 4:00 p.m.
