Leona B. Conrad July 28, 1907 - November 17, 2003

Leona B. Conrad, 96, of the West Point Care Center, formerly of St. Paul, died at 12:25 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at the care center.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20 at St. James' Catholic Church in St. Paul, with the Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the church. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a Christian Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Family will be present from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. James' Cemetery in St. Paul. A memorial has been established to St. James' Catholic Church in St. Paul.

Survivors include eight sons, Ray and his wife Justine Conrad of Tempe, Ariz., Victor Conrad of Creswell, Ore., Ernest and his wife Nancy Conrad of New London, Linus and his wife Sue Conrad of Versailles, Mo., Paul and his wife Kaye Conrad of Pilot Grove, Carl and his wife Connie Conrad of West Point, David and his wife Mary Conrad of Dearborn, Mo., and Tony and his wife Bobbie Conrad of Placentia, Calif.; four daughters, Connie and her husband Carl Menke of Fort Madison, Patricia Conrad of Reno, Nev., Bernadine and her husband Mark Kruse of Avon, Colo. and Karen Derksen of Dublin, Calif.; 44 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph and his wife Bea Sanders of Chandler, Ariz., and Father Raymond Sanders of the Divine Word Missionaries Techny, Ill.; two sisters, Sister Rosanne Sanders of Milwaukee, Wis., and Rosanna and her husband Leroy Steffensmeier of Fort Madison.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James (May 11, 2000); four brothers, Ed, Bernard, Herman and Alfonse; a sister, Mary Pieffer; and two grandchildren.
