Leona Kuntz

Leona Kuntz, 78, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Burlington and New London, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at Mapleleaf Care Center.

      The memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Fr. Ken Kuntz and Fr. Nick Adam officiating. The vigil service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home with family visitation following. The family will receive friends for fellowship and a luncheon at the church following the memorial service. Burial of her cremains will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

      Mrs. Kuntz was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Blunch, S.D., the daughter of Bernhard and Lena Peterson Trueper. She married Joe Kuntz in 1958 at Chariton. She worked for the National Research Bureau and bowled for the J.I. Case Team and Rural Women?s Team while living in Burlington. She also worked for the New London schools, the New London library, and the city of New London. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Guild and the Daughters of Isabella at St. Alphonsus Church.

      Survivors include her husband, a sister, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and five brothers.
