Leona Rachel Leichty
Mrs. Leona Rachel Leichty, age 93, of Wayland, Iowa died Tuesday June 20, 2000 at 1:40 a.m. in the Parkview Home of Wayland.
She was born September 24, 1906 at Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Amasa and Katie Reschly Miller. On February 26, 1925, she was married to Henry Leichty, who preceded her in death May 13, 1987.
Leona was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, enjoyed quilting, and was a member of the Bethel Ladies sewing.
Surviving are her 12 children, Ed and Jean Leichty of Villisca, Iowa; Ellis and Phyllis Leichty of Mt. Pleasant; Calvin and Norma Leichty of Crawfordsville; Marion and Marlene Leichty of Mt. Pleasant; Richard and Barbara Leichty of Mt. Pleasant; Dwight and Joyce Leichty of Tuscon, Ariz.; Larry and Pat Leichty of Wayland; Royce and Carla Leichty of Mt. Pleasant; Wesley Leichty of Saudi Arabia; Douglas and Pam Leichty of Rock Island, Illinois; Mrs. Henry (Lois) Hochstetler, of Bonita Springs, Florida; and Mrs. Doris Mullet of Vancouver, Washington; 34 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin and Mary Lou Miller of Peoria, Illinois; Orie and Sarah Miller of Peoria, Ill.; Paul Miller of Wayland; and Orville and Alberta Miller of Wayland; two sisters Mrs. Willie (Susan) Troyer and Lenore Miller both of Wayland.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, infant daughter Verda Mae, brother Mahlon Miller, two sisters Vera Schlatter and Ruth Grieser and son-in-law Alvin Mullet.
Memorial services will be held at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Friday June 23, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Phil Slabaugh will officiate.
Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery at 10 a.m., prior to the memorial services.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland. There will be no family visitation.
Memorials in her memory may be made to Bethel Mennonite Church.
