Leonard G. Grieser, 96 of Wayland, died Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Bethel Church in Wayland. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and YouTube pages. Following the service, the body will be cremated, and burial will be held at a later date. The family will greet friends Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 4 – 6 PM at the Bethel Church. A memorial fund has been established for the Bethel Church. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Leonard was born March 28, 1927, in Beemer, Nebraska, the son of Peter R. and Lillie (Schilling) Grieser. He graduated from Beemer High School and served in 1W service in Wisconsin. On June 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Betty Miller in Milford, Nebraska. Leonard was a farmer, working on the land and raising livestock at their farm in rural Wayland. He was a member of Bethel Church and enjoyed farming, being with family, singing, and traveling. Leonard and Betty traveled to all fifty United States.
Survivors include his wife Betty of Wayland; five children: Twila Grieser, Ranee (Mick) Reschly, Judy (Ray) Ham, Doyle (Barb) Grieser, Jalaine (Paul) Fishell; ten grandchildren: Lori Reschly Leeman, Jessica Reschly Klahn, Aissa Ham Jones, Rob Ham, TJ Ham, Nathan Grieser, Christian Grieser, Brendan Grieser, Grace Grieser Schaefer, Tyrone Taylor; 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Leonard in death were his parents, his grandson Justin Reschly and three siblings: Beulah (Allen) Wittrig, Maurice (Leila) Grieser, and Pearl (Darrell) Puckett.
