Leonard Alfred "Al" Young, age 79, of Washington, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness.

A visitation will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Interment will be private. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Al's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Al was born July 2, 1940 in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Frances (Stewart) Young. He graduated from Washington High School and served honorably in the United States Navy. Al was united in marriage to Judy Wollrab on January 9, 1970 in Rock Island, Illinois.

Al worked for McCleery Cummings until his retirement and had previously worked for Cargill. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, repairing machinery and tool-making.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Young of Washington, IA; son, Neal Young (Gena) of Riverside, IA; two sisters: Martha Gerber of Sturgeon Bay, WI and Carol Feddersen of Clinton, IA; one brother, Tom (Elaine) Young of Washington, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers-in-law.
