Lester Rice September 11, 1928 - September 17, 2003

Lester E. Rice, 75, of Lovington, N.M., formerly of Burlington, died at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at Nor Lea General Hospital in Lovington.

      The graveside committal service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26 in Kossuth Cemetery in Mediapolis. There will be no visitation. Hass Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three sons, Robert E. Rice, Ronald L. Rice and David D. Rice, all of Burlington; three daughters, Evelyn M. Kenny of West Burlington, Barbara J. Rice of New London, and Judy A. Fry of Osceola, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Rice of Kingston; and two sisters, Martha Mellinger of Burlington, and Erma Holcomb of Liberal, Kan.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, three brothers and two sisters.
