Lila J. Cordes, 75, of 18422 N. Conestoga Drive, Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Mt. Pleasant died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at West View Care Center in Sun City, Ariz., after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's disease.

A memorial service will be held at St. Michael's Church in Mt. Pleasant in the spring.

Mrs. Cordes was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Edith and Cecil Godwin. She married Dean R. Cordes on June 25, 1948. She attended high school in Washington and at Mt. Pleasant, where she graduated in 1943. While in Mt. Pleasant, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and assisted in the Cordes Real Estate office. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. In 1967, she moved with her family to Phoenix, Ariz., where she was employed in the accounting department of Karsten Manufacturing Company, which is the maker of Ping golf clubs. While there, she had the responsibility of all accounts receivable. For many years, she enjoyed spending time with her husband at their mountain cabin, located in Pinewood, Ariz. She retired in 1984 and spent much time collecting antique glassware and traveling with her husband in their RV.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Tom Cordes of Issaquah, Wash. and David Cordes of Mt. Pleasant; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
