LILLIAN "LIL" CHRISINGER

Lillian "Lil" Chrisinger, 91, of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winfield. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services, formerly Honts Funeral Home, in Winfield. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Youngquist will officiate. Following the memorial service at the church, a time of food and fellowship will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Lil. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.
Lillian L. Jones was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Louisa County, the daughter of James and Lottie (Brown) Jones. Lil received her teaching certificate at Iowa State Teachers College and began her teaching school in a one room schoolhouse. On June 15, 1952, Lil was united in marriage to Richard Lindy Chrisinger in Columbus Junction. After marriage, Lil returned to school at Iowa Weslayn where she received her bachelor's degree. She taught first grade at Columbus Community Schools for 20 years. Lil was a very active member of the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of PEO and Garden Club. She volunteered at Sunrise Terrace and the Swedish Museum. She enjoyed feeding people, baking, gardening and sewing.
Lil will be deeply missed by her children, Jim (Elizabeth) Chrisinger of Ankeny, John C. Chrisinger of Winfield and Ann Grossheim of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Jennifer A. (Matt) Bellingtier, John Aranake (Amrita) Chrisinger and Georgia S. Chrisinger; two great-grandsons, Davis and Kirby Bellingtier; three sisters, Wanda Skubal, Verlee Schneider and Marion (Boone) Bell, all of Columbus Junction; and sister-in-law, Mary Jones of Columbus Junction.
Lil was preceded in death by her parent; husband, Lindy, on Dec. 10, 2018; son-in-law, David F. Grossheim; and her twin brother, Ray Jones.
