Linda J. Bennett, age 71, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, at her residence under Hospice care.
Calling hours will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Private family graveside will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for PAWS & More Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be sent for Linda’s family at www.jonesfh.com.
Linda was born June 27, 1953, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Dale S. and Louise C. (Wilcox) Richards. She attended school in Washington, Iowa, and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. Linda was united in marriage to Ronald Bennett on June 12, 1969, in Washington, Iowa.
Linda worked as an accountant for Latta, Harris & Yotty in Washington before joining the Johnson County Auditor’s Office, where she worked until health challenges led to her retirement. She had a deep love for gardening and spent many hours caring for her flower beds. Linda also enjoyed fishing, reading, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She adored her two cats, Sammy and Cooper, who brought her much joy.
She is survived by her son, Rob Bennett and Allison Ball of Riverside, Iowa; daughter, Tari Haile of Fairfield, Iowa; five grandchildren, Katlyn Bennett, Robert Bennett, Garrit Haile, Gannon Haile and Carrigan Haile; two great-grandchildren, Carsyn Starnes and Brantley Haile; two sisters, Diane Havens and husband Randy of Montrose, Colorado; and Kathryn Jones and husband Steve of Iowa City, Iowa.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron; and one niece, Lisa Jones.
