Linda Kay Schilb Vermilion, age 61, of Carrizozo, NM passed away Friday, September 3, 2021.
Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25. 2021, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor John Kermott officiating. Inurnment will follow at Spencer Cemetery.

Linda was born September 3, 1960, in Burlington, IA to Lester Roy and Doris Darlene (Smith) Schilb. She married Jerome Hammes and they later divorced. On September 5, 2015 she married David Vermilion in Carrizozo, NM.
Linda graduated from Fairfield High School, Class of 1978. She worked as a dietary aide at Sunrise Terrace, Winfield, IA, Park Place Elder Living and Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Linda was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, attending to her flower and vegetable gardens, going to church clubs and watching Sunday and Monday night football. She sold Avon for several years. After moving to Kansas, she worked at Walmart, GTI and was a personal care aide. Most important was spending time with family and friends.
Linda will be missed by her husband, David of Carrizozo, NM; four children, Matthew Hammes of Princeton, KS, Leslie A Powell, Lawrence, KS, Jonathan Hammes, Alamogordo, NM and Eric (Brittanie) Hammes, Wichita, KS; 14 grandchildren; stepchildren, DJ (Amy) Vermilion of Nebraska and Jimmy Vermilion of New Mexico; nine stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; siblings, Steven (Julie Campbell) Smith of Agency, Jeffrey Schilb and Glenda White (her twin sister), both of Fairfield; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Doris; sister, Roxie Brown; and nephew, David White.
