LINDA LOU DROZ ENGLISH
Mount Pleasant
Linda Lou Droz English, 72, of Mount Pleasant, arrived in Glory on Friday evening, September 24, 2021, at her home in Mt. Pleasant.
Linda was born on December 12, 1948, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Willard Jack and Ethel Althea Droz. Linda grew up
in Fairfield, Iowa. She was the fourth child of a family
of seven. Linda adored her family and loved to tell
stories about her family and growing up in Fairfield. One of her most favorite stories to recall was the day her brother Bob shot her sister Gloria in the butt with a B.B. gun and was run out of the house in his underwear. Linda was a graduate of Fairfield High School, class of 1966. Soon after graduation, she met Lyle English and was married to Lyle on August 26th, 1967 in Fairfield, Iowa, and subsequently moved to Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Over the years in Mount Pleasant, Linda was employed by HyVee, Motorola, Celestica and Staats, eventually retiring from Staats.
Linda was a proud grandma of six grandkids. She was very thankful to have those six grandkids close by during these last three years. She enjoyed watching them in sports, band and choir, as well as taking them out to lunch and "overpaying" them for mowing her lawn. When not with her grandkids, she also enjoy spending time with her sisters and friends, going to lunch and fulfilling her bucket list.
Linda is survived by her son, Steven (JoKasta); six grandkids, Ava, Naomi, Simeon, Esther, Phoebe and Othniel; sisters, Gloria Droz, Portland, OR, Marie (Mike) Griffin, Kathy (Howard) Garrison and Patty Droz-Ingle; sister-in-law, Becky Droz; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Jack and Ethel Althea Droz; husband, Lyle A English; daughter, Marlene "Molly" English; brother, Robert "Bob" Droz; sister, Sue Ann Droz-Peebler; brother-in-law, Doug Peebler; nephew, Doug Peebler Jr.; and niece, Tracie Droz Deitzman.
The great evangelist Dwight Moody once said: "Some day you will read in the papers, 'D.L. Moody of Northfield is dead.' Don't believe a word of it! At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now; I shall have gone up higher, that is all, out of this old clay tenement into a house that is immortal - a body that death cannot touch, that sin cannot taint; a body fashioned like unto His glorious body. I was born of the flesh in 1837. I was born of the Spirit in 1856. That which is born of flesh may die. That which is born of the Spirit will live forever!"
By now you have read that Linda English has died. Don't believe a word of it! She is more alive than she ever has been! She was born of the flesh in 1948. She was born of the Spirit in 1975. And today, because of Jesus Christ ALONE, she lives with her Savior forever!
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with her son Steven English officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening.
