MOUNT PLEASANT ? Lisa R. (Egbert) Obazee, 50, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Richland, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, in St. Francis Hospital in Chicago.
A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Richland United Methodist Church in Richland. Memorials may be directed to the PMA/Reach and may be mailed to the Murphy Funeral Home, Box 347, Mount Pleasant, IA 52641. Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant is handling the arrangements.
Lisa was born Sept. 8, 1964, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Larry and Peggy (Melvin) Egbert.
She graduated from Pekin High School in the Class of 1982. She will be remembered for her musical talents, as she played the saxophone, organ and keyboard, and her passion was the piano, which brought her a lot of enjoyment. Over the years she accompanied jazz band, show choir, church cantatas, school musicals, and many students for music contests. She received the Outstanding Music Award of Pekin High School due to her gift of music. She also played the organ at Richland United Methodist Church and was the accompanist for the Messengers. After attending AIB, she started her career in Chicago as a legal assistant working for Sidley and Austin Law Firm for over 20 years, and most recently for Edwards and Wildman Law Firm as a document specialist. In her free time she enjoyed making jewelry and sharing with her friends and family. She was known to have a caring, loving and giving heart, always willing to share what she had, especially to children in need. She had a love for animals, especially her pet cat.
Surviving are her parents, Larry and Peggy Egbert of Branson, Missouri; two brothers, Todd Egbert and wife Dawn of Cedar Rapids, and Chad Egbert and wife Heather of Woodbury, Minnesota; three nieces; and cousins.
