Lloyd Bender

    KALONA ? Lloyd Bender, 85, of Kalona, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a lengthy illness.

    Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the Kalona Mennonite Church in Kalona with the Rev. Mick Murray and Chaplain David L. Yoder officiating. Private family burial will be held prior to the service. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona First Responders, Kalona Volunteer Fire Department and Iowa City Hospice.

    Mr. Bender was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Kalona, the son of Ira and Lena (Miller) Bender. He married Barbara Stutzman on Dec. 24, 1944, at Fairview Church.
