Lois E. Bennett

KEOTA ? Lois E. Bennett, 80, of Keota, died Friday, June 19, 2015, in the Keota Health Care Center.

Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 22, at Holy Trinity Parish ? St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with the Rev. Jake Greiner officiating. Burial was at Keota Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 until 8 p.m., Sunday at the church, where a wake service was held at 4 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Keokuk County Hospice. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Bennett was born April 15, 1935, in Keota, the daughter of Isaac and Grace (Biewen) Norenberg. She married Daniel Lee Bennett on June 28, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota.

She graduated from Keota High School. She had a paper route when she was younger. She also worked at the cleaners and at the Central Café. A lifelong resident of Keota, she was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed raising her children, cooking fried chicken every Sunday, and listening to music.

Surviving are six children, Jacque Sieren and husband Roger of Sigourney, Scott Bennett and wife Christine of Mesa, Ariz., Kelly Bennett and wife Gina of Keota, David Bennett and wife Tina of Lancaster, Calif., Judy Berg and husband Alan of Ollie, and Jim Bennett and friend Teri Procyk of Lancaster, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six brothers, Donald ?Dick? Norenberg of Harper, Stanley Norenberg of Adel, Lowell Norenberg and wife Anna of Branson, Mo., Gary Norenberg and wife Judy of Biloxi, Miss., Jay Norenberg and wife Pat of Pensacola, Fla., and George Norenberg and wife Chris of Iowa City; two sisters, Pauline Cave and husband Darvin of South English, and Veronica Shifflett and husband Roger of Sigourney; and one brother-in-law, Don Earll of Hiawatha.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel, in 1997; one brother, Lou Norenberg, in infancy; and one sister, Beverly Earll.
