RICHLAND ? Lois Eileen Kerber, 88, of Richland, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at her home.
Her body has been donated to the Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center Department of Anatomy. Burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney will be at a later date. No services are planned. Memorials to the Richland Volunteer First Responders or the Lancaster Heritage Association may be mailed to Gould Funeral Home, P.O. Box 293, Richland, IA 52585.
Mrs. Kerber was born Aug. 17, 1927, on the family farm near Lancaster, the daughter of Karl and Amanda Maizie (Colbert) Fauth. She married Edwin Kerber on Sept. 10, 1952, in Sigourney.
She attended Lancaster country school and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1945. She graduated from Iowa Success School in Ottumwa. She worked for Dr. Thomas Wolf at his Richland Clinic beginning in 1965 and completed her career soon after the Medical Arts Clinic purchased his practice in 1986. She and her husband loved to travel, and visited all 48 lower states and spent 20 years wintering at Gulf Shores, Alabama. She was also active with the Richland Public Library, the Lancaster Heritage Association, Richland Legion Auxiliary No. 504, and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Steven of Ottumwa, and David of Richland; two granddaughters; and one sister, Jean Strupp and husband Floyd of Sigourney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, on Feb. 3, 2003.
