Lois R. Vest, 77, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at her son's residence in Washington under Hospice care.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at Marion Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Joseph Brown officiating. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the Marion Avenue Baptist Church Bus Facility Fund. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Lois was born May 1, 1943, in Cincinnati, Iowa, the daughter of Ray Roy and Bessie L. (VanBlaircome) Milford. She attended school in Lancaster, Mo., where she graduated from Lancaster High School. Lois was united in marriage to Charles William Vest Sr. on April 1, 1963. Following his death she was married to Albert Hinton on Feb. 14, 1992, in Hannibal, Mo.

Lois has lived in Washington, Iowa, since 1991, and had previously lived in Wellman, Iowa. She worked at Oral B. Labs in Iowa City, retiring in 2004.

She is survived by her son, Charles Vest and wife Tammy of West Chester, Iowa; son, Kevin Vest and wife Chrys of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Julie Smolek and husband Chad of Holden, La.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Vest Sr., in 1964; husband, Albert Hinton, in 2012; daughter, Pamela Rae Vest; and 15 siblings: Henry Milford, Andy Milford, Mary Rhodes, Sara Mae White, Jessie Haines, Tom Milford, Robert Milford, Ralph Milford, Pauline Smith, Sharon Smithburg, June Clay, Pansy Milford, Cecil Milford, Ray Milford and Roxie Williams.
