Lois Virginia (Washam) O'Hanlon, 94, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at the St. Alponsus Cemetery in Silex, Mo. Because of federal guidance on gatherings due to the Covid 19 pandemic, a public memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials have been established for the M.L. McCreedy Home. Lois was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Arkansas, the daughter of Dee and Ann (Arnold) Washam. She was united in marriage to Dudley J. O'Hanlon on March 12, 1944, in Delhart, Texas.

She and Dudley moved to Washington in 1964. Lois was a homemaker and worked at the Hy-Vee store in Washington. Lois was a member of St. James Catholic Church and, in her earlier years she enjoyed swimming at the Washington Community Y, playing cards -- especially Bridge and golfing.

Lois is survived by five children, Pat O'Hanlon and wife JoAnn of Arizona, Terry O'Hanlon of Fort Worth, Texas, Chris O'Hanlon of Washington, Iowa, Ellen Courtney of Lewisville, Texas, and Sean O'Hanlon of Coralville, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1997; son-in-law, John Courtney, in 2003; and siblings, D.J. Washam, Betty Jones, James Washam and Herbert Washam.
