Lola Gay Jones, 48, of rural Wayland
WAYLAND ? Lola Gay Jones, 48, of rural Wayland, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
There will be a gathering/visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the OC Community Church south of Wayland. Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland is assisting with arrangements.
Mrs. Jones was born May 29, 1962, in Texas City, Texas, the daughter of Lloyd Allen and Della Faye (Davis) Jones.
She worked in real estate for a short time. She also managed a women?s fitness club and owned her own cleaning business. She loved cooking, gardening and taking care of animals ? especially cats. The most important and cherished role of her life was being a mother. She enjoyed raising her two daughters and spending time with any and all children. She often babysat for others. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters as well as any of their friends, who were also always welcome in her home. She was known for her fun, outgoing, nurturing and giving nature, and her strawberry-blond hair that turned heads wherever she went.
Surviving are two daughters, Kelly Riekstins of Marietta, Ga., and Courtney Rixten of Atlanta, Ga.; her father, of Dickinson, Texas; her fiancé, Troy Jameson of Wayland; two brothers, Les Jones of Dickinson, Texas, and Lonnie Jones of Rockdale, Texas; and three sisters, Loa Heckendorn of Dickinson, Texas, Lora Worthey of San Antonio, Texas, and Lonna Stein of Dickinson, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
