Lola M. Waterhouse, 88, of Salem, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday, March 13, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with Joan Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Salem South Cemetery.

Born March 23, 1931, in Salem, Iowa, Lola Margaret was the daughter of William and Alma (Short) Johnston. Her education was in the Salem School District. On April 23, 1952, Lola married Don Waterhouse in Salem. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2010.

Lola was a housewife. Calling friends and talking with people was a highlight of her day. She also spent time walking her dog, Miles, doing word books and picture puzzles and going out to eat. Lola was a member of Salem Friends Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Ann (Brian Tecca) Gallup of Mount Pleasant; one grandson, Richard E. Kerr of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Dale Johnston of Florida; two sisters, Ellen Frank of Mount Pleasant, and Dorothy (Marvin) Williams of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, Lola was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Donna Kay Waterhouse; and one sister Ruth Peterson.
