Lola White
Lola White, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sept. 2, 2007, at the Henry County Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, with burial in Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will start at 2 p.m. Friday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, with family present from 6-8 p.m. to greet friends at the funeral home.
Lola White was born in Lake Park on Feb. 10, 1915 to Alfred and Louise (Wunder) Schoellerman. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) in 1934.
On Feb. 17, 1940, Lola married Carroll White at Lake Park. Lola assisted her husband in the White Laundry and Dry Cleaning Shop in Jefferson until they adopted two children: Richard Robert and Mary Louise.
She was consecrated as a lay worker and educational associate in the United Methodist Church in June 1971.
Lola was a member of the United Methodist Women, Friday Club, P.E.O., Federated Club and Garden Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Louise Brown and her husband Russ of Burlington; a son, Richard White and his wife Jeannine of Ridgefield, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alvin Schoellerman of Newport, Calif.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a brother William Schoellerman, and a sister Beverly Gulardo.
