Lonnie D. Welcher, 66, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at his home in Mount Pleasant surrounded by his family.

Lonnie was born on April 5, 1954, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Joe Franklin and Doris (Wellington) Welcher. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Lonnie worked for Motorola and Lomont Molding, both of Mount Pleasant. Lonnie was united in marriage to Krista Verrips in 1998. He enjoyed spending time with his friends playing pool, watching the water at Oakland Mills, spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren activities. He was a member of the VFW of Mount Pleasant.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Krista, of 22 years; his children, Marc (Gina) McSorely, Kayle (Tommy) Langas, Charity (Mike) Ryan and Jamie (Maria) Albright; 15 grandchildren; and two brothers, Kenny (Peg) Welcher and Randy (Emma) Welcher.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Matthew Albright.

Lonnie's family will host a Celebration of his Life from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 5, at the Sugar Maple Cabin at Oakland Mills. Military Honors will be conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard. A memorial has been established in his memory. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant.
