Loren 'Keith' Hobart
Loren "Keith" Hobart, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, and formerly of New London, died at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Elliott Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. in New London United Methodist Church. Pastor Dot Hasler will officiate. Interment will be in Long Creek Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for New London United Methodist Church.
Born July 9, 1923 in Danville, he was the son of Joseph and Hazel Keleckler Hobart. On Jan. 18, 1943 he married Betty Jane Chapman in Memphis, Mo.
Keith attended Danville schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked in civil service as a government inspector at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 30 years, worked for area farmers and at Spahn and Rose Lumber Co. in New London.
Keith was a member of New London United Methodist Church where he was head usher for many years and assisted with the youth at church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Shirley (Bob) Sinclair of Racine, Wis.; one son, Loren Keith (Janese) Hobart Jr. of Palm Bay, Fla.; four grandchildren; one sister, Opal Faye Garland of Luling, La.; sister-in-law, Kathryn Hobart of Mt. Pleasant; five step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
His grandson Steven Hobart, parents, two brothers Lowell and Lyle, and one sister Mildred Suesans preceded him in death.
