LOREN "SKIP" BENJAMIN RENOUX
Washington
Loren "Skip" Benjamin Renoux, 86, of Washington, Iowa, passed away in his home on Sunday, July 12, 2020.
There will be no family visitation or service at this time. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with laying Skip and Marcie to rest at Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to Friends of Lake Darling and the Washington YMCA in Skip's name. Online condolences may be sent for Skip's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Skip was born December 9, 1933, in Washington, Iowa, the 2nd child of John and Loretta Renoux. He graduated from West Chester High School in 1952. His high school football participation may have been responsible for Skip noticing a certain cheerleader who became his lifelong partner. He married Marcella (Marcie) Bowser on September 10, 1952, at the Washington Methodist Church Chapel in Washington, Iowa, and celebrated 64 years of marriage until her passing in 2016.
Various occupations including driving a truck and farm work led to his managing and eventually co-owning Marshall Furniture from which he retired in 1995. He belonged to Rotary, the Washington Golf and Country Club, and he and Marcie enjoyed their retirement socializing and golfing in Washington and McAllen, Texas where they resided part of the year. Winters to be exact, prompting many phone calls to Iowa asking how "our" weather was treating us.
The entire family has fond memories of events at Lake Trio, many potlucks, boating, swimming, fishing and those 4th of July fireworks that were not exactly safe but definitely a fun yearly tradition.
Skip is survived by his sons, Ron (Sherry) Renoux of Iowa City and Terry (Wendy) Renoux of Somerville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shaylee Marie Renoux (Brandon) House, Daniel J Renoux, Margaret Rose Renoux, Loren Renoux (Bryan) Zielinski; great-grandsons, Cole, Cash, Rowdy, Wesley; great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Winnie; and step-great-grandchild, Cheyenne. He is also survived by siblings, Janet (Laurel) Roberts of Iowa City, Mart (Stan) Schooley of Brighton, Vivian "Sis" Anderson of Washington; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcie; son, Daniel Joseph; brothers: Vic Renoux and Marion Renoux and wife Janet; sister, Edna Colliver; grandson, Andy Renoux; and great-grandson, Maxwell Renoux.
