Loren Wayne Vander Hart, age 71, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will be present to receive friends. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Loren VanderHart memorial to be directed to the Cedar Rapids Animal Shelter where he had adopted his dogs. Loren was born June 19, 1953, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Harold and Gladys (Pothoven) Vander Hart. He graduated from Pella High School in 1971 and from Central College in 1975. Loren spent much of his career working at MARC group in Dallas, Texas. In 2013 he moved to Pella, Iowa and moved in 2021 to Washington, Iowa to be closer to family.
Loren’s favorite way to spend time was with his two dogs Chop and Angel, and his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He loved to spend time with family over shared meals and weekly movie nights of either Iowa Hawkeye games or Only Murderers In the Building. He was always eager to help with family however he could and was a dog chauffeur for all the family pets taking them to vet and grooming appointments. He was a great cook and baker, and even worked at Jaarsmas Dutch Bakery growing up. He was a wonderful brother and uncle, who was always willing to go the extra mile.
Loren is survived and will be missed by his nieces and nephews Anne (Jordan) Youngman of Kalona, Beth (Ben) Clark of Grimes, John (Anne) Dillon of Des Moines, Michael (Andrea) Dillon of Ankeny, Michelle (Tyler) Coleman of Pella, Danielle (Kyle) of Creston, Matthew (Annika) Dickinson of Tipton, as well as Brother-In-Law Ron Dillon of Kalona, and sister Sheryl (Dan) Dickinson. Great-nieces and great-nephews include Jayden, Julianne and Jensen; Ella, Drake and Maci; Everett and Emmett; and Olivia.
Loren was proceeded in death by his parents Harold and Gladys Vander Hart, sister Karen Dillon, nephew Brian Dillon and nephew Mark Dickinson.
