Loretta L. Rice

NEW LONDON ? Loretta Lynn Rice, 55, of Danville, formerly of Washington, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at her home.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2, at Elliott Chapel in New London with Ms. Carrie Duncan officiating. The family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to the service, Sunday at the chapel. According to her wishes, her body has been cremated, and inurnment will be at a later date. A general memorial has been established.

Mrs. Rice was born March 28, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Wilbur J. and Mabel Irene (Mendenhall) Darby. She married David Edward Rice on July 12, 2004, in Washington.

She was a graduate of Los Santos High School in Hacienda Heights, California. She worked as a CNA and medical assistant at Washington County Hospital and McCreedy Home. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of the American Heart Association. Decorating and fashion were her passions, and she enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Sarina Swinnen of Danville; two sons, Steven Treanor of Bakersfield, California, and Brandon Marcella of Hedrick; 15 grandchildren; four stepdaughters, Elizabeth, Abigail, Rachel, and Megan; one sister, Elizabeth Darby of Washington; one half brother, Art Hines and wife Terri of Moab, Utah; and two half sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Rico.
