Lorraine F. Thalacker
Lorraine F. Thalacker, 57, of 1613 N. 14th St., Fort Dodge died Monday, March 27, 2000, of cancer at the Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in rural Pomeroy, with the Rev. Dave Benedict officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 31, at the Harrisville Cemetery in Harrisville, Wis. with the Rev. William Thalacker officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. this evening at the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Ft. Dodge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be given to the Evangelical Covenant Church in Pomeroy, the Christian Children's Fund, the American Cancer Society, World Impact, Inc., or Taylor University's World Outreach program.
Mrs. Thalacker was born March 8, 1943, in Elizabeth, N.J., the daughter of Willis and Frances Saunders Briggs. She married John Thalacker on June 1, 1968. She was raised and went to school in Roselle Park, N.J. She graduated from Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. in 1965 and attained a Master of Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans, La. in 1967. She and her husband lived in Fort Lewis, Washington, Mt. Pleasant, Anamosa, Rockwell City, and Ft. Dodge. She was a psychotherapist at the Catholic Social Services of Ft. Dodge. She spent a lifetime helping others ? as a wife, mother, psychotherapist, and community volunteer. Her Christian faith served as a guide in all she did.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Johanna Thalacker and Christina Kiki Thalacker, both of Upland, Ind.; one sister, Lois Budner of Bethel, Conn.; one brother, Earl Briggs of Austin, Texas; and her parents-in-law, the Rev. Arnold and Lois Thalacker of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents.
