Louis 'Louie' Shelangouski

Louis ?Louie? Shelangouski, 87, of Rapids City, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rapids City. Burial will be at St. John?s Cemetery in Rapids City, with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion Coe-Lamb Post 421.

Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. today at Gibson Funeral Home in Port Byron, Ill., where a rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities or Alleman High School.??

Mr. Shelangouski was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Polishville, the son of Carrie Pech and Edward Shelangouski. He married Theresa Mohr Sept. 17, 1949, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rapids City.

Survivors include his wife; eight children, Beverly Arnold and husband Dean of Winnebago, Ill., Marcia Driscoll and husband Chuck of the San Francisco Bay area, Debbie Winston and husband Dick of St. Louis, Anita Brown and husband Jim of Sacramento, Calif., Mary Beth Shelangouski of St. Louis, David Shelangouski and wife Janice of East Moline, Diane Sharp and husband Brian of Rock Island, Ill., and Carol Shelangouski of St. Charles, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Caroline Anderson of East Moline.
