Louis Vernon ?Vern? Richardson

    Louis Vernon ?Vern? Richardson, 85, of Washington, died Sunday July 5, 2009, in Halcyon House in Washington following several years of declining health.

    Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Appel officiating.  Burial with military honors conducted by Washington American Legion Post 29 will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.  Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.  Prayer services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic Church, Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund, or Hospice of Washington County.

    Mr. Richardson was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Iowa City, the son of Wilbur R. ?Irish? and Dorothy Mae (Fritz) Richardson.  He married Lois Rose Fitzgerald on Jan. 4, 1946, at the St. James Church Rectory in Washington.
